is it friday yet?!

*note: picture of moab, ut

hey!// Yesterday, Jeep Safari week began and I'm quite antsy, because the boyfriend and I, along with our friends Morgan and Carrie are heading out to Moab this weekend to join in on the fun! We'll be camping, partaking in a group jeep trail and be in the big jeep parade down main street! I plan on taking lots of pictures, so I can share our adventures when we get back.

I haven't been to Moab in years and a mini vacation for boyfriend and I is well over due. Needless to say, I'm pretty excited. Is it Friday yet?!

growing up & getting out there.

*note: these are my "work shoes." i love them.

hey there// Disheartening. That’s the word that comes to mind when I think back at all the job hunting I have done recently. Disheartening. I feel as if there’s nothing out there, nadda. Realistically I HAVE found a whole bunch of job listings, the only problem is that I’m not “qualified” or have enough experience. To get a job that falls under the kind of big girl pants I want, I have to have three to five years experience. Now someone please tell me when I was suppose to be getting these years of experience as I worked two full-time jobs and went to college full-time, someone…please tell me.
After you graduate college you’re given an illusion that jazzing up your resume and being the determined graduate that you are, you’re going to conqure the world! But wait, they forgot to tell you…you need to catch a lucky break. It’s not as easy as it sounds.
So far I have been lucky. Before I graduated college, somehow I lucked out and lined-up a paid internship to start right after my last semester as a marketing coordinator at a law firm. It was all be chance really. Pretty awesome, uh? And the next lucky thing about it…I love it! Now, working at a law firm wouldn’t had been my first pick, why? Well because, I didn't realize law firm's even had marketing...now I know. I don't know if this is my dream job, but you never really know what your "dream" job is until you're actually in it.
Even though I now work at a "stuffy" law firm (haha), my boss, she is amazing! She’s not mean or intimidating. She creates a welcoming, relaxed environment at work. She wants me to learn all that I can while I’m here, and for all that I’m appreciative.
I have learned a lot here. I've grown my resume and porfolio so much, and my writing skills, I feel have improved as well. My boss has worked everywhere, been in so many different industries for pr and marketing, and the stories she has to tell are priceless! All in all I would say, so far I have been lucky since graduating college, I have. I just hope my luck doesn’t run out, now that I’ve started looking for permanent big girl jobs. Thank goodness St. Patty’s day is just right around the corner. Maybe I’ll capture myself a leprechaun…

just say No.

hello!// Here's a thoughts...why is it that the moment you tell yourself  you’re not going to eat certain foods you start to crave them all. of. the. time? I have a goal, like most people do, to start eating more healthy and workout more. Now I’m not into dieting, but after reading an article, I realized those foods you need to stay away from are foods that I actually don’t eat much of anyways, so I thought to myself “that’ll be easy to stay away from, I’ll do it!” The very moment I made that promise to myself, the cravings started to come. Candy (I don’t really like candy), ice cream, hamburgers (never crave hamburgers), fries….where did these cravings come from?? And then I caved. I ate those things I craved, clearly I lack mental strength.
But no more caving! I will stick to my goal, become healthy, be happy and learn to just say NO! Mind over matter.

love day.

*note: this post was taken from my old blog template. and so this post is old.
hi!// Today is the big Love day, also known in my world as my birthday. Yes I was born on valentine’s day and you know what…I can’t complain. For as long as I can remember people have always asked me the question, “do you like having your birthday on valentine’s day?” with a negative tone of voice. And without hesitation I would reply yes! I mean how can one complain when you have a win, win situation on love day. If I didn’t have a valentine (which i never did), then I would still get presents and love coming my way, and I knew that when the day would come of me actually having a valentine, I would not only be getting birthday presents, but valentine gifts too! And well that is a beautiful thing. Oh sure trying to go out to eat on valentine’s day is a messy situation, but when you have been having your birthday every year on one of the biggest date nights, you grow savy and learn to make dinner reservations months in advance. That was until this year. I finally have a valentine and this has been going on for two years now. He is a doll and I love spending time with him. I’m smitten. Being it our second valentine’s day together, I decided to do something I have never done before, let him make the dinners plans. Eek, I know. And of course last week he tells me that he can’t find anything available. Now I blame this on myself really. i did sort of throw this big birthday/valentine’s day dinner thing on him last second. oops. i know what you’re thinking, “oh no, now they have zero plans for her birthday. Men.” But have no fear, I of course fixed the situation and found a place for a little romantic dinner (which we have actually never really had on vday before)….at least i hope. If everything goes smoothly, I will pat myself on the back and think “man, I saved the day!” Wish us luck (I might need it).
One last splash of thought: love day is great, at least in my book. I have been lucky having it on my birthday, because I have never really seen it as “single awareness day.” Up until now, it has  merely been my birthday that everyone chooses to celebrate with me. All going out eating good food, filled with hearts, purples and reds, and my favorite birthday tradition of all, flowers. Now that I have finally found my valentine, I’m starting to celebrate love day a little bit more each year and dare I say it….getting a little giddy and mushy with love on my birthday. All in all this is a great day! I wish you all a happy valentine’s day!!

welcome.

howdy!// Well I guess this is my first official blog post, so naturally I'm going to welcome myself and to whoever might be reading this to my newly discovered world of "blogging." WELCOME! I never really saw myself as a blogger, but hey, I thought I might give it a whirl. Here's a little bit about myself...

I'm a recently graduated kid, trying to discover this thing called "growing up." You could say I'm trying on different "big girl pants" until I find the right size and fit. Not that jean shopping was hard enough on its own, now I need a pair of big girl pants as well, which might I add is a whole log harder to find then jeans. Shocking, I know. Who would have known that after college you really haven't conquered the world, just quite yet. It's only the beginning.

So as I'm trying to search my way through life to find the perfect pair of "big girl pants," I decided to create this blog as a way to splash some color onto my life and a virtual corner to share this color as I try to conquer my way through endless amounts of fittings and squeezing in this place we call real-life. Or in my case, growing up.

I love color and this blog here, is a place where I can splash my love, dreams, obsessions, thoughts, trials and everything else inbetween. Cheers** I've just written the first post to hopefully many more to come!
