our easter weekend.

hello!// For Easter weekend, the boyfriend took me and our friends Morgan and Carrie to Moab, Ut for Jeep Safari, and it was the perfect little break from the real world, minus the fact that boyfriend had been sick that week before and was still sick during the whole trip. Poor guy.

Friday morning we headed out towards Moab after picking up Morgan and Carrie, and yes all four of us, along with our camping gear were able to fit into the jeep. Didn't think it was possible, but we made it work just fine! After driving for a few hours, we stopped at the delicious Ray's Tavern for some lunch. Trust me, it isn't a Moab trip unless you stop at Ray's for a hamburger. Once our stomachs were satisfied, we all squeezed back into the jeep and finished the last miles into Moab.

The drive in was exciting, seeing all the jeeps lining the streets of Moab and rolling down the window to feel the heat, I couldn't help but smile. I hadn't been to Moab for years and Carrie had never been, I was looking forward to rediscovering the red rocks with someone who was discovering it for the first time, along with the men in our lives.

After finding our campsite and setting up our tents, we went to the convention center to get the information for our group trail on Saturday and to look at all the tricked out jeeps of course. I've never seen so many jeeps in one place before, you could tell the guys were loving it! We went to multiple places to look at jeeps and once we felt we had seen it all, we got to doing what I know best...shopping!

The four of us walked up and down main street, going in and out of shops, looking at what Moab had to offer us. We were all on the hut for a good jeep safari t-shirt, and me, I was on the prowl for a  unique turquoise ring. In the end, we not only found sweet t-shirts, but we stumbled up the best shop in Moab, Canyonlands Trading Post. They had some neat stuff inside and out! It was the mexican blankets outside that drew me into this store. I've always wanted a mexican blanket and the heaven's parted when I saw that wagon full of them outside the trading post. Not only did I get that mexican blanket I was craving for, but once inside, I saw the most unique turquoise ring that I fell in love with and it was the boyfriend who picked it out and bought it for me. He is the best!

After we (more me) had our shopping fix, we headed to the grocery store to get food for dinner. Since we were camping, it only seemed appropriate to cook hot dogs at our campsite for dinner. And though we had a slight glitch while cooking the dogs (morgan ended up dropping half of them haha), it all worked out and we had a fun dinner!

Saturday morning we had to get up early, because we were signed up for a group trial and that meant we were in the Jeep Safari parade! We got there right on time at eight and after waiting for what seemed like hours (though it was only one hour), we finally followed behind the lines of jeeps on main street as people took pictures and gazed. The parade wasn't as exciting as I thought it would be, I think it was more fun for the people watching as we drove by. But hey, at least I can say that I've been in it!

The group trail was called "On Top of the World," and that's exactly how it felt. It took us all day to do it, but it was worth it! The trail was rocky and much more sketchy then we thought it would be, but the boyfriend drove like a champ! Though I knew we were in good hands (boyfriend has been jeeping since he could drive), I still got a little nervous at times and held on for dear life! Bumping up and down on the rocky road was well worth it once we got to the top. The view was BEAUTIFUL! It really did feel like you were on top of the world, standing on the look out. Moab is hot, dusty, dry and yet gives you the most spectacular views, letting the visitor know that there is no other place like it and takes their breath away (cheesy sounding I know). I love jeeping and this was one of the best trials I had been on. Thank you boyfriend for showing and sharing it with me!

Waking up on Sunday was a little sad, because we all knew that today was the day that we had to go back home and re-enter the real world. I didn't want to go, in fact I still wish were there as I'm writing this now. We made too many good memories and I wish we could've stayed a little bit longer and made some more. Hopefully sometime soon we can go back and go on some other trials and see more of Moab, creating more good times. And then next time boyfriend will be healthy and not sick, so he can enjoy it better!
